Happy Mother’s Day!

This Sunday is our annual Mother’s Day Family Blessing. During our worship, we’ll enjoy a video slideshow of the new babies and families that have blessed our congregation during the past year, and special prayers of blessing will be offered for the babies and children as they grow up in the Lord. We thank God for all the wonderful mothers and grandmothers in our midst, as well as those who have gone on before us – we love and appreciate you!

Church Planting Workshop

TVCC, in partnership with Kairos Church Planting, is hosting a Bay Area Church Planting Workshop on Saturday, May 19, from 10 AM to 4 PM. The workshop is open to everyone. Talk to Wes Wolford for more information to sign up. Multiple churches from around the Bay Area will be represented, and Jason Darden (our own church planter) will be one of the speakers. The workshop will not only cover strategies for planting new churches like the one in Berkeley, but will offer tools for revitalizing the work in our own neighborhoods. Mark your calendars for this special training event.

Youth United Bike Races

Jacob is part of a group of Livermore youth ministers called Youth United. This group has been asked by the city to have a booth downtown on May 15th when the Amgen Race comes through Livermore. They are having stationary bike races where people can stop by, race one another, and try to set the speed record! The group already has one stationary bike and will need to borrow one more, just for the day. If anyone in the church has a stationary bike (that is in decent shape) and would be willing to let Jacob use it for the day, please contact him and let him know ASAP. Thanks in advance for your help!

What’s The Story?

Over the next few months, you will be introduced to a Bible reading program called The Story. This unique, comprehensive program will move through an abridged reading of the Bible in chronological order, lifting out 31 of the most powerful and significant stories (people, periods, or events) for us to learn from. Our Tri-Valley leaders are convinced that it’s critically important for us to develop a common understanding of the core messages of the Bible. So, beginning this September we will move through this program together as a church for all 31 weeks. You can read along during the week with either The Story (abridged) or the entire Bible – or both.

From time to time you will see a vision statement from someone in the congregation about “The Story” printed here in our weekly newsletter (like the one at right), just to help us start thinking about the greater impact that “The Story” may have for our church family, our community, and beyond. Please be praying for this upcoming season, and be considering friends or family members who would like to join us on this amazing journey. Watch for more information in the coming weeks.

New Study Series: 10 Dumb Things Smart Christians Believe

The young adults will be starting a new series based on the book 10 Dumb Things Smart Christians Believe. Each week we will look at one of the “dumb things” the book calls into question, see how it holds up against Scripture, and discuss. As usual we’ll have dinner at 6 PM followed by our study and prayer at 7 PM.

Camp Registration Now Open

Registration for Faith Development Camp (FDC) and Wildside is now open! Go to daybreakcamp.org to register for an awesome week up at Daybreak Camp. The early bird registration deadline for both camps is May 15th. If you register before then, the cost is $280 (includes lodging, all meals, camp T-shirt, all materials/crafts/activities, and MUCH MORE). Camp dates are as follows:

FDC (for students who have completed 9-12th grade) – July 8-14
Wildside (for students who have completed 6-8th grade) – July 15-24

Middle School Reach IN: Camping at Del Valle

Attention middle-school students and parents! You’re invited to spend 24 fun hours at Del Valle eating, playing games, camping, exploring, and enjoying God’s beautiful creation. We’ll depart from Tri-Valley on Friday, May 18 at 5:30 PM and we’ll be back on Saturday, May 19 by 4:00 PM. Bring a friend! Sign up list is posted in the Middle School Room. Cost: $10 per student.

Summer Teachers Needed

We are scheduling summer leaders for our Sunday morning Kids’ Own Worship time and are offering two-week slots for the summer. This plan is designed to accommodate vacation trips for those who travel in summer break, and will also give newer people a chance to get their feet wet in teaching without making a long-term commitment. If you have questions or would like to sign up for a teaching slot, speak to Michele Brecht.

Children’s Clothing Needed

Our clothing ministry is in great need of clothing for children in sizes 3 to 12. If you have any gently used clothes that you can donate please bring them to the building on Mondays between 1:00 and 2:30. If this time is not convenient for you please contact the church office and we will arrange an alternate time. Thank you!
