Thank You to our Youth Group adult volunteers

Thank you to all our adult volunteers who consistently support the Tri-Valley Youth Ministry and invest themselves in the lives of our students. Last night we honored over 20 of these adults who volunteer with things like:

  • leading small group discussions on Thursdays and Sundays
  • traveling with teens to/from events
  • building relationships with students
  • serving on the Parent Action Committee
  • much, much more

Thank you for caring for our teens. What you do is a tremendous blessing to the youth ministry and extremely valuable for students’ spiritual development. Anyone who would like to discover ways they can become involved in the youth ministry, please get in touch with Jacob or Lisa. We can never have too many mature, Christian adults on hand to positively influence our youth!

A Joyous Migration

Thousands of Christians from across the country and around the world will make the journey to Malibu, California at the beginning of May. This sparks thoughts of the great festivals of God’s people throughout past centuries, coming together to sing praises, learn of God, and refresh their souls. The Pepperdine Bible Lectures (May 1-4, 2012) will again bring God’s people together. Don’t miss the beginning on Tuesday evening, May 1! Call (310) 506-4270 or visit www.pepperdine.edu/biblelectures for more information.

Planting Seeds of Faith

A primary focus of TVCC ministry in 2012 will center around helping a new church get planted in the Bay Area.  That’s a big, faith-driven goal.  To help us all learn what that means, the elders have requested a single, 9:30 am adult class during the month of March to explore church planting.

For those four Sundays, Steve Martin will guide a lesson and discussion in the auditorium, dealing with questions such as: “Why does the Kingdom need new churches?” “How can a new church effectively target lost people?” “How does a new church get started?”

It’s vital for us all to share a common understanding and set of expectations for planting a new church, so we need everyone to attend.  Plan now to be present at 9:30 am on March 4, 11, 18 AND 25.  See you then!

Teens for Jeans

Brianna Hill is collecting gently used jeans for homeless teens until Feb 16. Jeans in wearable condition of any size or style without holes or tears in them may be donated.  There is a marked collection box in the foyer – thanks for your help!

Family Day

Our next Family Day is coming up fast: Sunday, February 26. It’s the perfect time to invite a friend or neighbor. We will have our usual light breakfast and fellowship time at 9:30 am, and a kid-friendly worship service at 10:30 am. Plan to come and enjoy!

Opportunity Camp 2012

This year’s summer mission project will be serving at Opportunity Camp, June 16-23.  The first Opportunity Camp training date has been changed to Feb. 19th. It’s still 4:30-6:00 pm at Walnut Creek Church of Christ (500 Minert Rd., Walnut Creek, CA), but the date has been changed from Feb. 12th to Feb. 19th.  Please make a note of this, and remember that’s only TWO WEEKS AWAY! We’ll need to know by then whether or not you’ll be coming with us to Opportunity Camp 2012.

Thursday Night Singing, 6:15 pm

Jacob will open up the Youth Room on Thursdays at 6:15 pm and lead some pre-ConneXion Point worship songs. Anyone who wants to come early and worship together is welcome!

Renew Conference: February 10-12

The College Church of Christ in Fresno will be hosting the Renew conference February 10-12. Main speakers include Mike Cope, Mark Lau Branson, Tony Ash and Aaron Metcalf. Our own Steve Martin will present a class on Saturday afternoon. Registration for the weekend is $15. You can get more information or register online at: www.collegecofc.com/renew.

Ministry Planning

On Saturday, February 4th at 9:00 am, all deacons and ministry leaders are asked to meet with the elders and staff at the church building.  The elders will present a ministry vision for 2012, and will work with our servant leaders to make plans for the coming year.  This is a critical time of planning, so don’t miss it.  Ministry leaders should have received an email invitation already, but call Steve Martin if you have questions. Everyone, please pray that God will actively bless our elders, deacons, and ministry leaders with wisdom, clarity and stamina for the days ahead.

Fifth Friday Singing

For many years, San Francisco Bay Area Christians have come together on “Fifth Fridays” for an evening of congregational singing. To continue this opportunity for praise, encouragement, and fellowship, the congregation in Fremont invites to you to come on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. to the Church of Christ of Fremont, 4300 Hansen Ave. Fremont, CA 94536. This singing was actually set for the fifth Friday in December, but was postponed two weeks to avoid the New Year’s weekend in hopes this will allow for a higher level of support and participation. Questions? Call 510.797.3695. Come share an evening in song and praise!
