Are you willing to serve?

One of the great spiritual disciplines of the Christian faith is serving others. Through service, we learn to live for Christ in this world — to be his hands and feet.  Jesus taught his disciples, “the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”  Thank you for being willing to explore areas of the church family where God will use you to help others — and in turn be blessed yourself.

Community Care (Benevolence) - Outreach Ministry

Workers are needed to help us serve the community through our benevolence ministry.  The program is open on Mondays from 1:00-3:00pm in the Family Life Center.  Volunteers are needed to help organize both clothing and food to be given away.  Help is also needed to check in the families that attend.  Workers who speak Spanish (or other languages) are always needed.

FW Friends - Children’s Ministry

Our mid-week children’s program has a fun, “Vacation Bible School” feel to it.  Volunteers are asked to help on Thursday nights for one hour.  This program runs in conjunction with the school year, and takes off for holiday and summer breaks.

Qualifications: Our FW Friends teachers should have a heart for children. Safety regulations require that our children’s workers complete a Volunteer Application prior to serving.

Greeters – Worship Ministry

Are you an outgoing and friendly person?  Why not greet guests and members on Sunday mornings?  A greeter will be assigned certain weeks to meet at 9:15am, and stay till 15 minutes after the worship service begins (10:45).  Greeters will hand out bulletins, and help give additional information to our guests (as needed).

Jr High or High School Teacher - Youth Ministry

Volunteers who teach in our Jr. High or High School classrooms should have a passion for teenagers and some experience working with this age group.  Material will be provided, but teachers must present the material in an engaging way that demonstrates a sincere interest in the teens, and in their growing relationship with Jesus.

Qualifications: Due to safety regulations, Jr. High and High School teachers will need to complete a Volunteer Application prior to working with the teens.

Kid’s Own Worship – Children’s Ministry

Tri-Valley offers a special teaching time for children during the sermon. Volunteers will be asked to be part of a team that teaches a 30-40 minute class.  Each team is asked to teach for 3 months a year.  Sermons are recorded each week and posted on this website, so volunteers can still hear what happens in the worship service.  Plus… this is a program that kids really enjoy!

Nursery Worker – Children’s Ministry

Help in the nursery (children 0-3 yrs. old) one Sunday morning each month.

Location: Nursery – Classrooms #1 & 2

Qualifications: Our nursery workers need to have a heart for young children. Safety regulations require our child care workers to fill out a Volunteer Application prior to serving.

Praise Team – Worship Ministry

If you like to sing, join us.  We have rehearsals every Thursday at 8:15pm in the Auditorium.  The praise team also meets early on Sunday mornings (8:30am) to warm up and review.  Singers should be comfortable singing one of the four parts: soprano, alto, tenor or bass.

Small Group Host – Small Groups Ministry

Small group hosts will be responsible for providing a positive environment for a group of 8-14 people.  Their responsibilities may also include coordinating food and communicating with the group.  Hosts should exhibit the gift of hospitality, and demonstrate a consistent and reliable connection to the church body.

Small Group Teachers – Small Groups Ministry

Small groups are a central part of Tri-Valley’s tools for helping Christians grow with others.  Volunteers who teach in small groups will partner with a host family to  provide a 60-90 minute weekly gathering. The teacher is responsible for leading a 20-30 minute discussion.  Material will come from a variety of sources, including online classes that can be downloaded and played on a television.

Qualifications: Small group teachers should have a fair to moderate amount of teaching experience.

Sunday Adult Teacher – Adult Ministry

Our Sunday morning adult education teachers present 12 week classes in four major categories: Old Testament, Life of Jesus, New Testament/Church History, and Christian Living.  Each teacher prepares one class a year and works with a partner, who will then repeat the class offering during a second quarter.

Time(s) Needed: Sunday – 9:30am
Misc: Teachers should plan on at least 60 minutes of preparation prior to each class. They should also anticipate helping organized the classroom environment prior to each quarter.
Qualifications: Lead teachers should have experience teaching adult classes. New teachers with little to no experience are welcome to partner with a lead teacher to help offer a repeated class.

Sunday Children’s Teacher – Children’s Ministry

Be part of a teaching team for one of the following age groups: Cradle Roll, 2-3yrs, Pre-K/Kindergarten; Grades 1-2; or Grades 3-5. Teachers usually teach one quarter (13 weeks) each year.  Student-Friendly, and easy-to-use curriculum will be provided.

Misc: Teachers should anticipate 60 minutes of preparation prior to each class, as well as helping with some classroom organization prior to each quarter.

Youth Staff – Youth Ministry

Youth volunteers are workers who have a heart for teens, enjoy getting to know them and their life situations, and are passionate to help them grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ.  Youth staff help in a variety of situations — particularly offering support at youth events.  Volunteers will work under the oversight of the Youth Coordinator and Associate Minister, and can sign up for particular events during the course of the year.
